2010 promises new direction, new music and a fresh new look

Indianapolis, Indiana (January 4, 2010) – When clocks struck 12:01 on New Year’s , this not only ushered in a new year but it was also the start of a brand new era at Tyscot Records.

Thirty years after founding the oldest African American owned & operated gospel record label, Dr. Leonard Scott is again assuming the position as President of Tyscot Records.  Though he has been involved with the label over the years as a Majority Partner/Shareholder and artist, Dr. Scott will now assume a more hands-on role in the daily operations of Tyscot

“What a delight it is to serve Tyscot Records and the Gospel Music Industry in supporting some of the world’s finest ministries, our artists” said Dr. Scott.

Bryant Scott, who is credited with signing Tyscot’s most popular acts such as Deitrick Haddon & Voices of Unity, John P. Kee and the Rance Allen Group, will now serve as Executive Vice President.  Other staff changes include the new addition of Melanie Scott, Esq. as General Council and Vice President of Marketing.

After decades of successfully running the family-owned label, Bryant Scott is excited about the company’s new direction. “I am elated that Dad has come full circle and is taking a more active role at Tyscot, one he had many years ago… I am [also] excited by the addition of my sister Melanie in the areas of Marketing and Legal.  She will bring fresh ideas into this industry.”

The staff is not the only new change at Tyscot.  The company’s website is also receiving a much-needed “facelift”.  According to Ms. Scott, the site will be a one-stop hub for all things Tyscot and will include news, exclusive videos, and other interactive elements that will reflect the new and innovative initiatives that Tyscot will unveil in 2010 such as new music from Lucinda Moore (Blessed Broken & Given) and Cory “Coco Brother” Condrey (Stand 2010).  In keeping with the renewed focus on Christian entertainment, the label will also dabble into the motion picture industry with the release of Blessed and Cursed, a feature-length movie starring Deitrick Haddon and the Voices of Unity in the summer 2010.

Dr. Scott is optimistic about the new path that Tyscot will be blazing in 2010 and believes that the best is yet to come: “The artists represented by Tyscot Records are exemplary of the talent needed in today’s market and times.  Coupled with our professional staff, I believe we are positioned to make a positive, powerful impact on our culture and world for the cause of Christ”.
